Kan Chan Kin is a multidisciplinary artist with over 10 years of experience using art, music, and activism to raise awareness about the impact of plastic pollution.
In 2021, he was awarded the title of Member of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean (MSK) by the Mauritian State for his contribution to the artistic and environmental fields.
Working closely with major partners such as the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage and the Indian Ocean Commission, the young environmental advocate has hosted numerous Trash to Music exhibitions. These collaborations have given him the opportunity to showcase the potential of turning waste to instruments in Mauritius and abroad. As an artist, he has toured the world, sharing his work and his island’s rich cultural heritage.
Over the past few years, Kan has contributed his expertise to initiatives on climate action in Mauritius, and continues to inspire the youth to see recycling as a creative force for change.
